Join the Friends of the Concord Free Public Library for Poetry from the Library, featuring poets Cammy Thomas and Gary Whited.
Readings, Q & A, book signings, light refreshments.
Cammy Thomas of Bolton creates profound, intimate poems in Odysseus’ Daughter that give voice to marginalized figures that shed new light on the experiences of mythical peoples and a better understanding of our own lives. These poems were written in response to fourteen years of teaching Homer’s great epic at Concord Academy.
Gary Whited of Boston, in Being, There, locates the vastness in the simplicity of a task, a spider weaving a web, a carpenter swinging a hammer, a boy mucking stalls, and has that rare vision: He sees movement in the stillness, and stillness in the movement. – Nina MacLaughlin
