Plate to Mind: Food and Its Effect on Mood and Brain Chemistry

November 21 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Our understanding of how food impacts mental health is growing. Naturopathic physicians have long studied these connections, and now mainstream medicine is joining the dialogue! UCLA has researched the gut-brain link and its impact on psychiatric symptoms. Psychiatrist James Greenblatt has highlighted the connection between nutritional deficiencies and mental illness. Most notably, MGH Psychiatrist Christopher Palmer raised concerns about the mental health industry’s lack of attention to lifestyle changes such as changes in diet, thereby failing to support mitochondrial health, which he says can lead directly to mental illness. This topic is being discussed in hospitals, among research scientists, on social media, and in our communities.

Following the presentaiton, Dr. Scanlan will engage in a thoughtful conversation with Psychologist Dr. Stephanie Kriesberg and Registered Dietician Joanne Csaplar. There will also be time for audience discussion.

Register to reserve your spot. Walk-ins are welcome if space is available.
