The talk opens by exploring Irish immigration from the late 17th century, when the Irish were brought to America unwillingly as indentured servants. It then moves to the pre-famine influx of Irish Catholic immigrants to Boston in the early 1800s, and to the massive wave of immigration following the Great Potato Famine in the mid1800s. Finally, the talk delves into the ascent of the Irish in Boston politics, including brief profiles of prominent Irish political figures such as Patrick Collins, Hugh O’Brien, Patrick J. Kennedy, and John “Honey Fitz” Fitzgerald. Christopher Daley is a teacher, historian, author, and public speaker. Please call to reserve a spot at 978-318-3020.
